EFNL Volunteer of the Year Finalists

From the volunteers behind the scenes to the players, coaches, families and clubs who bring people together each week, local sport plays such an important role in our community. Our partnership with the EFNL is a way for us to recognise, celebrate and give back to the passionate volunteers whose time and dedication help keep local sport strong.

Meet the EFNL Volunteer of the Year finalists and discover their inspiring stories, contributions and impact across their clubs and the wider community.

Eastland and Ringwood Mazda are proud to announce that voting is now underway for the EFNL Volunteer of the Year, with a total of $5,000 in cash prizes to be awarded to the winning volunteers and their clubs.

Andrew Rodgers

Andrew “Bucky” Rodgers has been a dedicated member of Warrandyte Football Club for more than 30 years, making an invaluable contribution both on and off the field. A past player with over 150 games, former committee member, Vice President and Life Member, Andrew has also served as Bar and Liquor Manager for more than 10 years, supporting both the football and cricket clubs. He is a familiar and highly respected figure within the EFNL community, known for his positivity, willingness to help and strong connections with young players through his work at Warrandyte High School. Whether setting up events, supporting game days, mentoring young players or strengthening club connections, Andrew is a true volunteer whose dedication and impact on Warrandyte Football Club is immeasurable.

Ruby Egan

Ruby has made an extraordinary contribution to Park Orchards Football Netball Club, building on five years managing the club’s social media before joining the Committee in 2026 as Chief Information Technology, Communications & Media. In her first year, she has driven a major digital transformation, developing a new website, introducing a centralised SharePoint database, streamlining financial and administrative systems, and implementing innovative tools to improve memberships, merchandise, events, sponsorships and communications. Volunteering more than 15–20 hours each week, Ruby also manages the club’s social media, branding and promotional activities while providing strategic advice to the Committee and acting as a valuable link between players and club leadership. Her professionalism, innovation and willingness to share her expertise have not only saved hundreds of volunteer hours and strengthened the club’s operations, but also earned recognition across the EFNL, with other clubs seeking her advice on improving their own digital presence and engagement.

Paul Waters

Paul Waters is a cornerstone of the Ferntree Gully Football Netball Club, having dedicated around 40 years to the club in a remarkable range of roles across both the junior and senior divisions. A Life Member of both, Paul has served as President and Vice President, spent 10 years coaching juniors and has been a long-standing committee member. His contribution extends well beyond these formal roles, with Paul regularly taking care of facility management, line marking, bar duties, cleaning, player meals and countless other tasks that keep the club running. Continuing a family legacy that dates back to the 1940s, Paul’s unwavering commitment and willingness to do whatever is needed have made him an invaluable part of the club and a truly deserving Volunteer of the Year finalist.
